Your counselling/psychotherapy session will last 50 minutes. An additional 10 minutes is allowed to arrange further appointments.
During your first session we may talk about your counselling contract. This time will also be used to collect personal information and gain an understanding of why you have come into counselling. If there is a particular goal you would like to achieve, we can explore this together during your initial session.
Your counselling will take place in a safe and confidential environment to explore your thoughts and feelings. I will work with you in a non judgemental way by listening and empathising with you.
Long or short term therapy depends on the individual and can be agreed at the initial assessment together. It is good practice to review this at 6 week intervals.
The aim of counselling is usually to facilitate your recovery and perhaps help you to develop skills so that you are able to continue to improve your own well being in the future.
